1. The adult batch is on Thursdays at 6:30pm. We will start with a small pooja (~15 mins) to Lord Nataraja (God of dance), followed by class the very next day for Dwithiya paata (2nd lesson) - a customary tradition done not to break the flow of learning. All classes are held at Laasya Studio: 126 Panamount Villas NW, Calgary, AB T3K 0A3. 2. Come dressed in comfortable Indian clothes: salwaar kameez, pyjama/tights (ankle length), dupatta, bindi & earrings (preferably jumkas). The length of the top has to be on or below the knee, ideally with a slit on both sides. Bring a water bottle to class to keep hydrated. 3. Class management/communication will be done via WhatsApp. If you are unable to attend classes for any reason, please notify the WhatsApp group in advance. 4. There are NO classes during statutory holidays/long weekends. If for other reasons a class cannot be held, a makeup classes will be scheduled. List of Stat Holidays for 2025 & corresponding holidays for dance classes: Fri 18th Apr: Good Friday - Thu Apr 17th Thu 25th Dec: Christmas - Thu Dec 25th 5. At the moment, there are no new batches scheduled to begin in the next few months so you will need to join an existing batch that started a few months ago. You will need to take 2-3 extra classes/week to get caught up to the existing Thu 6:30pm batch. Fees are $25/hr for extra classes & $100/month once you join the batch. Payment can be made by cash (preferred and appreciated) or etransfer: laasyacalgary@gmail.com. Fees need to be paid promptly at the end of the month depending on the number of classes taken that month. 6. There will be a few dance performances (some are free, some are ticketed) by Laasya (arangetram/rangapravesha) or reputed artists that visit Calgary every year, that will be "mandatory" for the students to attend. Watching performances is an important part of learning. Every time Laasya performs, details of the performance will be shared in advance & will be updated on the website's events calendar section. Make every effort to watch these performances 7. As you learn and advance, there will be performance opportunities (once you get to the dance level). However, please understand learning any classical art form takes time, dedication & perseverance. When the time is right & you are ready, opportunities will be provided to perform. 8.
