Ranudi Nagahawatta
Ranudi's Bharatanatyam journey began at "Manu Kala Mandir," guided by Smt. Sudha Thakkar. In 2015, at just 8 years old, her parents nurtured her passion further by enrolling her in Laasya under Guru Smt. Mridul Burgi. Her talent and commitment were quickly recognized, allowing her to progress rapidly through batches with the support of extra classes. Over the years, she has performed extensively at various cultural events and competitions across Calgary, showcasing her growth as a Bharatanatyam artist. Her relationship with Guru Smt. Mridul Burgi has been transformative, deepening her understanding of the art form through rigorous training and a profound Guru-Shishya bond. Bharatanatyam has shaped Ranudi into a disciplined, hardworking, and culturally rooted individual, and her Arangetram in November 2023 celebrated her years of unwavering dedication to this classical dance form.
Meghana Kompally
Meghana began her Bharatanatyam journey at age 9 in Muscat, Oman, training in the Kalakshetra style under Guru Smt. Shailaja Sreekumar for four years. After a brief pause, she resumed her training at Laasya in Calgary under Guru Smt. Mridul Burgi, embracing the Mysore style of Bharatanatyam. Meghana has evolved into a skilled senior performer and student teacher, demonstrating her dedication to the art form. She is passionate about enhancing her proficiency, exploring choreography, and delving into other Indian classical and folk dance traditions. Meghana completed her Rangapravesham in March 2024.
Harshitha Sanker
Harshitha's Bharatanatyam journey began at the age of 6 under Smt. Malavika Venkatasubbiah (Natyam Dance Academy) in Edmonton and flourished at Laasya under Guru Smt. Mridul Burgi for over 11 years. With unwavering dedication, she evolved into an accomplished performing artist and student teacher, sharing her love for the art form. Her exploration of the Kalakshetra style under Smt. Arundhati Singha John (Nritta Dhyana Dance Academy) in Kuwait enriched her understanding of Bharatanatyam. She has performed extensively at cultural celebrations such as Chinook Culture Blast, Rath Yatra, and CBKM Chithirai Festival, embodying the rich traditions of Bharatanatyam. Harshitha celebrated years of devotion and artistic growth with her arangetram in May 2024 while striving to inspire others through her journey.
Priya Atkins
Priya's Bharatanatyam journey began at age 5, with early training under Karthika Ganesh and Sudha Panchangam, and later continued at Laasya under Guru Smt. Mridul Burgi from 2016 onward. Over the years, she has performed extensively at competitions and cultural festivals across Calgary, Red Deer, and the Yukon, earning accolades and recognition for her skill and dedication. She performed her arangetram in August 2024 to express her artistic passion for the art form. As a student-teacher at Laasya, she shared her love for Bharatanatyam with younger students inspiring their journey
